Star rating
Google’s reply tips, in short
  • Keep it short and personal: use their name and mention something specific.
  • Be conversational, not promotional. Leave out deals and offers.
  • For a bad review, apologize where it’s fair, don’t blame, and take the details offline.
  • Never share private details about the customer or the job.
  • Reply soon. Google checks replies before they appear, which usually takes a few minutes.

FAQ

Review Reply Questions

Ask us anything
Should I reply to every review?
Reply to every negative review, and to positive ones when you can add something personal: their name, and what they liked. Google’s own tips say replies should be short, personal and not promotional.
How do I reply to a bad review?
Stay calm, thank them, apologize where it’s fair and offer a way to talk offline. Don’t argue or share details about the customer or the job. Keep it short: the reply is really for the next customer who reads it.
What if the review is fake?
If you believe a review is fake or breaks Google’s policies, flag it in your Business Profile rather than arguing in public. A short, polite reply that says you can’t find a record and invites them to get in touch also reassures the next reader.
Why is there a healthcare mode?
Healthcare practices have to protect patient privacy, and under HIPAA even confirming that someone is a patient can be a problem. This mode leaves out names and details. It isn’t legal advice, so check with whoever handles compliance if you’re unsure.
Are these replies written by AI?
No. They’re built in your browser from templates, using what you type. Nothing is sent to us. Read each reply and make it sound like you before posting.
